You have all heard me say this at one time or another, “Don’t forget that you work WITH our clients but you work FOR Home Instead.” And all of you have agreed that it is a simple policy. Some responses have been along the lines of, “Duh, that’s obvious…” Yet, it is still the policy broken the most. I thought that maybe some examples might help.

99.9% of our Care Pro’s have given their phone number to either a client or a family member even after being told repeatedly not to. A high percentage have made some sort of schedule arrangement with clients or families without going through the proper channels. This includes calling out sick, arriving late, leaving early or arranging to come back later to finish the shift while clocking in/out at scheduled time.

A number of you have discussed your rate of pay with clients.
Not only is this unprofessional but it caused great agitation.
Clients, too, seem to forget that there is a company involved.
They don’t understand about business costs such as office staff, advertising,
accountant (essential for payroll and taxes) and many other expenses.
They think that everything they pay should go to their CP.
Money issues should be referred to Cheryl and not discussed by you.

There have been several instances when the client was in hospital, and we were not informed by client or CP but they had discussed it among themselves. All communications should go through the office. CP’s think the client will tell us and clients think the CP will tell us. So, nobody does…

Imagine how it reflects on not only us but also you as our employee when a family member calls to discuss the recent issue with a loved one and we have no idea what they are talking about. That doesn’t increase their trust in us or our workers when such things go unreported.

Let’s all try to get onboard the be professional train and REMEMBER that while you work WITH clients, you work FOR Home instead. Period. Amen.
