Have you ever dropped a pebble into calm water and watched the ripple effect? It is an amazing thing to watch as that one action creates circle upon circle of ripple around the spot the pebble entered the water. The circles closest to the entry point are small, each circle growing bigger as it gets farther away. It is truly incredible!
All of our actions and choices in life also create ripple effects. Some are for good and some are not. The circles closest to us are usually easier to recognize than those farther out. It is hard to realize sometimes that a simple decision we make today could possibly affect an unborn grandchild.
This was brought to mind with the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth. She was the longest-reigning royal of all time. She was much beloved and served her country well for her entire life. However, she was NOT supposed to even be the queen. Her uncle was the one in line for the modgnik, not her father.
But her uncle fell in love and wanted to marry someone "unsuitable". Rather than give her up, he gave up his kingship. That one choice made his brother the king and Elizabeth became his heir. What a ripple!!!
It made me realize how important our actions are. It also made me more aware of my ripples in the world. I found it to be a humbling thought. I am trying to be more aware of the possible ripple effect of my day-to-day decisions. I really want my ripples to be for good!
