“Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” is an old adage most of us have heard. It means that what's on the inside doesn’t always match the outside. It’s a reminder to us that things aren’t always what they seem.

Recently, I saw a great illustration of this on a video. A young, handsome man was standing on a wharf eating an ice cream cone. He appeared to be staring at a beautiful young woman standing nearby with her boyfriend.

She was clearly uncomfortable and kept turning away from his gaze. Her boyfriend was becoming more and more enraged at this man’s behavior. Finally, unable to take it any longer, he stormed over to the man, getting in his face yelling and then he even shoved the man a little.

At this point, the staring man opened up his foldable white cane to find his way away from the situation. Yes, he was staring because he was blind.

He had NO idea that his face was pointed towards anyone. And you should have seen the look on the boyfriend's face when he realized the truth. You can imagine!!

It reminded me to not jump to conclusions about anyone until I know more about them…it is so easy to judge but “we shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover”.
